Pet Dental Care for Cats & Dogs in Chandler, AZ

Healthy teeth and gums mean a healthier pet.

At Paw Partners Veterinary Clinic, we provide comprehensive veterinary dental care.  Dental issues can hide under the radar, and many times pets suffer needlessly with loose or painful teeth and gums.  Periodontal disease and gingivitis can lead to systemic issues with kidney, liver, and heart.

You might assume since your pet is eating that it does not have any dental issues. This is a misnomer since eating is an innate survival mechanism and your pet will most likely continue to eat through dental pain and discomfort.

Our Veterinary Dental Services

All dentals include a Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment. Since our pets will not say “ah” the dental is performed under anesthesia for the safety (sharp objects are used for scaling teeth) and comfort of your pet.   Cleaning includes above and below the gumline scaling and polishing.

A qualified and skilled technician will clean your pet’s teeth with an ultrasonic scaler and use a low speed drill to polish any fine imperfections.  Any extractions or oral surgery is performed by a veterinarian. A Wellness Exam and pre-anesthetic bloodwork are required before dental services can be rendered.

At Paw Partners Veterinary Clinic our dental procedures include:

  • Pre-anesthesia bloodwork (CBC & Chem)
  • Anti-nausea injection
  • Individual monitoring (CO₂, BP, ECG, SpO₂)
  • IV catheter & fluids
  • Advanced anesthesia machine (with ventilator)
  • 5 days of pain medication
  • Antibiotics if indicated
  • Nail trim

Extraction cost estimate

During your pet’s initial consultation, we provide an estimated cost range for potential tooth extractions. Because full dental radiographs and probing cannot be performed while a pet is awake, exact dental needs are determined once your pet is under anesthesia. We intentionally estimate on the higher end to ensure transparency, help prevent financial surprises, and address all necessary care in a single procedure to avoid additional anesthesia events. This pre-approved range authorizes our veterinary team to perform essential work seamlessly while remaining within your treatment plan. We only extract teeth that are clinically diseased and while sometimes it can sound like a lot of extractions, rest assured these decisions are made with your pet's health and comfort in-mind.

Dental Extractions: Starting at $130 (covers up to 4 teeth)

Dog with end stage, 4 out of 4, periodontal disease

(There is no saving these teeth - they all will need to be extracted)

Dog with stage 2 out of 4 periodontal disease

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer anesthetic free dentals?

Paw Partners Veterinary Clinic does not recommend anesthesia free cleanings.

While anesthesia-free dental (AFD) cleanings may sound less invasive, they often require significant physical restraint—something your pet can’t understand and may find very stressful. Providers may compare it to a human dental visit, but unlike people, pets can’t be asked to sit still or relax.

These procedures only clean the visible surface of the teeth using sharp tools to scrape off plaque and tartar. This can be dangerous, uncomfortable and painful, especially with heavy tartar buildup.

Most importantly, AFD cleanings do not reach below the gumline, where harmful bacteria cause periodontal disease, pain, and bone loss. Whiter teeth may look better, but they don't mean a healthier mouth.

True dental health requires a thorough cleaning under anesthesia, where your pet is pain-free, stress-free, and fully protected.

Is anesthesia safe for my pet?

There is always a risk associated with anesthesia, but we take every measure to minimize this risk. At your Wellness exam, your pet will receive a cursory dental evaluation. If a dental cleaning is recommended and approved by you, we will draw pre-anesthesia bloodwork. This bloodwork is used to help mitigate any potential known anesthetic concerns. During anesthesia, your pet will be continuously under the watchful eye of a skilled technician for any signs of distress and connected to a monitoring device to record vital signs and alert any changes.

How often should pets get dental cleanings?

Most pets benefit from annual dental cleanings, though some breeds or pets with existing dental problems may need dental cleanings more often.

How much does a dog or cat dental cleaning cost?

We will provide you a specific cost estimate for your pet’s dental care during a Wellness Exam. Costs do vary depending on the number and type of extractions and oral surgery required.
